'Spy tapes': Court setback for South African president Zuma
August 29 , 2014
In a setback to South African president Jacob Zuma in the “spy tapes” controversy, the country’s supreme court of appeal has dismissed his bid to prevent the release of the tapes that contain conversations which were cited as the reason for dropping allegations of corruption and fraud against him in 2009.
The beleaguered president is already facing the heat over spending large sums of money to refurnish his home and questions about his health.
The opposition Democratic Alliance has called the court’s ruling a victory for democracy.
