South Sudan Declares Famine

  • As per reports, South Sudan has declared famine in some of its parts. According to the United Nations as well government reports, around 100,000 people face starvation everyday and more than a million others are on the verge of facing famine.

    Warnings of famine in Somalia and north-eastern Nigeria were there but this is the first famine declared in South Sudan.

    Last week, a warning was issued by the UN World Food Programme (WFP) where it was mentioned that over 20 million people may suffer from starvation in famines in the coming six months.
