South Korea PM offers his resignation
April 28 , 2014
South Korean prime minister Chung Hong-won offered up his resignation after the public's anger on the way the ferry disaster is being handled.
"As I saw grieving families suffering with the pain of losing their loved ones and the sadness and resentment of the public, I thought I should take all responsibility as prime minister," he said.
The AP notes that the move is symbolic and a spokesman suggested that President Park Geun-hye will accept the resignation.
The accident left 300 still missing or dead. "I just want to find my son's corpse," the father of a victim said. "I want to see him one last time and hold a funeral for him."
