September 10 , 2014
More than 350 people are believed to have died in the unprecedented floods ravaging north India and Pakistan as massive efforts continue to rescue the thousands of people still stranded.
The death toll in India’s Jammu and Kashmir region has crossed 150; the Pakistani government has confirmed 203 deaths.
In Srinagar, many old structures, including residential buildings and bridges, have collapsed, making rescue efforts difficult.
India’s army is using social media to track distress calls and rescue stranded residents in Kashmir.
