South Africa's soccer captain Senzo Meyiwa shot dead

  • South Africa’s soccer captain Senzo Meyiwa was shot and killed on Sunday, October 26, by armed men who broke into a house where the national team goalkeeper was staying, media reports say.

    Two gunmen entered the house near Johannesburg’s Vosloorus township and a third stood outside, the police said in a message on Twitter. The trio later escaped on foot.

    At the time of the shooting seven people were present in the house, the police said.
