South Africa says envoy recall by Nigeria 'unfortunate'
April 27 , 2015
The South African government has slammed Nigeria’s move to recall its ambassador following a series of xenophobic attacks.
Describing the decision as “unfortunate”, South Africa indicated that it was “curious” that such a “painful episode” was being exploited.
The spate of recent anti-foreigner attacks in South Africa have killed at least seven people. Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini’s statements about foreigners have been partly blamed for triggering the violence that has displaced thousands of people.
