Somalia prime minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed to resign
December 7 , 2014
Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed, Somalia’s prime minister, will resign after a majority of parliamentarians voted to oust him, media reports said.
The vote is being seen as a continued political fight between Ahmed and Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, the country’s president.
Though the security situation in Somalia has improved in recent years, the central government remains weak. The country has seen instability since the early 1990s after president Siad Barre was forced out of office.
