Somalia: Bomb attack targeting Mogadishu hotel kills 13

  • A bomb attack on a hotel in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu has killed at least 13 people and injured dozens more. The deadly attack on the Jazeera Palace Hotel was carried out by ramming an explosives-laden vehicle into an outer wall of the complex, reports say.

Al-Shabab, a militant Islamist group linked to the al-Qaeda, has claimed responsibility for the bombing. Several embassies are located inside the Jazeera Palace Hotel. A Chinese embassy worker is believed to be among the dead. The US described the bombing as an “abhorrent” attack.
