Somalia: Al-Shabab militants attack two Mogadishu hotels; five killed
July 11 , 2015
Militants targeted two popular hotels in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu, killing at least five people, reports said.
People in the hotels were reportedly breaking their fast during Ramadan at the time of the attack.
Security forces later launched major operations at both Siyaad and Wehliya hotels.
The Al-Shabab militant group has claimed responsibility for the twin attacks. A militant leader was quoted as saying that the hotels were first attacked by car bombs after which the Islamist fighters stormed in.
