Solar Eclipse in US on August 21 Likely to Draw Millions of Americans and Visitors

  • Total solar eclipse is all set to be seen by the people of the USA on August 21, 2017 (Monday). This is the first time in 99 years time that the solar eclipse can be seen over such a wide swath of land (from coast to coast) in the US. The deepest shadow path (or umbra – shadow cast by the moon on earth) will be 2,500 mile (4,000 km) long and 70 mile (113-km) wide. “Path of Totality” of the solar eclipse will traverse through 14 US states and 12 million people living there can see the celestial show just by coming outside their home and looking up.
