Six million Filipinos turn up for Manila mass
January 19 , 2015
A record six million people turned up on a rainy Sunday, January 18, for the final mass of Pope Francis at Manila’s Rizal park, according to media reports. It was around a million more than those gathered at the 1995 mass of John Paul II at the same venue in the Philippines.
For many of the devout Catholics, who constitute 80% of the population, the Pope’s visit was an unparalleled experience to be savored for a lifetime.
Pope Francis urged Filipinos to remain strong and keep their faith.
