July 2 , 2016
At least six people were killed in an attack on two buses traveling in the Mandera county in North Kenya. As per media reports, the extremist group al-Shabab is behind the attacks. The attacks came only a day after the US issued a warning which proclaimed “terrorist attacks involving shootings, grenades and other explosive devices have occurred and had killed many”. This particular statement of advise was issued by the US to ensure that US citizens avoid going to the border areas of Kenya whch included Mandera, Wajir, Garissa counties. Last week, five policemen were killed in an attack which is blamed on the al-Shabab group. The extremist group has vowed retribution on Kenya because the latter had sent troops to fight militants in Somalia in 2011.
