Six killed, dozens injured as Typhoon Soudelor batters Taiwan

  • Typhoon Soudelor has left a trail of destruction in its path, killing at least six people and injuring dozens more in Taiwan, reports say.

Sustained winds of 161 kmph were reported on Saturday, knocking down trees and power lines and causing flooding in several areas, the island’s Central Weather Bureau said.

Taiwan's hilly regions are bracing for possible landslides while further flooding is feared in low-lying areas.

All domestic flights and a number of international flights have been cancelled.
