Serena Williams Fined $17,000 for Code Violation

  • According to the United States Tennis Association, Serena Williams has been fined $17,000 by the US Open for violating 3 codes in women's singles final which took place on Saturday. Williams ran into rough weathers after the umpire penalized her and then the entire game. Naomi Osaka, her opponent, beat her with -- 6-2, 6-4 -- and won the first Grand Slam title.

    Umpire Carlos Ramos initially gave a warning to Williams after her coach hand-signaled her during the match. However, Williams denied the blame and even demanded Ramos to apologize.
