Serbia's president condemns attack on PM at Srebrenica

  • Serbian president Tomislav Nikolić has condemned the attack on his country's prime minister Aleksandar Vučić, who was attending a ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre.

Nikolić said that the attack on the Serbian PM was like a “lynching” attempt and warned that the “savagery” of the incident was similar to instances before the Bosnian conflict of the 90s. Such incidents could give rise to “new quarrels”, he warned.

People hurled stones and bottles and chased Vučić, who escaped unhurt though his glasses were reportedly broken in the melee.
