Secular party wins Tunisia elections
October 30 , 2014
The Nida Tunis party, a liberal-secular party, which has links to the deposed regime, has won the maximum seats in the Tunisian parliamentary polls, with the Islamists coming second, according to the election commission.
NidaTunis, which ran on an anti-Islamist agenda, got 85 of the 217 parliamentary seats, and the new prime minister is likely to be from the party.
Ennahda party was closely behind with 69 seats, reports say.
The secularists have ruled out forming a unity government with the Islamists.
