Second spy revelation tests German-US ties
July 10 , 2014
Authorities in Germany are probing a second case of spying by a government staffer for the American secret services.
According to media reports, the new case involves a soldier and is more serious than the first one in which a man employed with Germany’s intelligence agency BND is said to have passed over 200 confidential documents to his US contacts.
The US ambassador in Berlin John Emerson admitted that “the German-American relationship is now undergoing a difficult challenge.”
