Second Longest Flight Route of the World between Australia and UK Starts Successfully

  • First scheduled non-stop flight (Qantas Flight QF9) started between Australia and United Kingdom, completing a journey of 14,498km in just over 17 hours. Chief Executive of the Australian airliner Qantas, Alan Joyce, called it a “game-changing route”. He reminded everyone at an event before the inaugural flight about the erstwhile “kangaroo route” between Australia and UK, which stopped at 7 locations and took 4 days journey. This historic flight departed from Perth on Saturday at 18:49 local time with over 200 passengers and 16 crew members. Reports say, it’s the second longest flight after Doha to Auckland route of Qatar Airways that covers 14,529km.
