Search for survivors underway following Italy quake
May 30 , 2012
Rescuers in northern Italy are continuing to search through rubble for more survivors after a 5.8 magnitude earthquake killed at least 16 people.
Around 350 people were injured after the quake hit the Emilia Romagna region, just ten days after a 6.0 magnitude earthquake on May 20 in the same area killed seven people and left thousands homeless.
The number of people made homeless from both quakes has now risen to 14,000 from 6,000.
The quake was the most deadly to strike Italy since 2009 when a tremor flattened the central city of L'Aquila, killing some 300 people and leaving thousands homeless.
