Scotland confirms first case of Ebola; patient undergoes treatment

The Scottish government confirmed country's first case of Ebola as an aid worker who was stationed in West Africa has been diagnosed with the virus in Glasgow. According to the news release by the government, the patient was diagnosed in the very early stages of the illness. The release also confirmed that NHS Scotland infectious diseases procedures were brought into effect and the patient is undergoing treatment at the Gartnavel Royal Hospital. The aid worker had returned from Sierra Leone on Sunday, 28 December.
