Saudi Arabia: King Salman reshuffles cabinet, appoints new intelligence chief

  • In a major reshuffle of his cabinet just a week after acceding to the throne, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman has replaced the head of the national security council and the intelligence chief.  

    Several senior government and religious officials, including the governors of Mecca and Riyadh, have also been replaced.

    However, key officials in the oil, foreign affairs and defense ministries have not been changed.

    Khalid bin Ali bin Abdullah al-Humaidan is appointed as the new Saudi intelligence chief.
