Saudi Arabia Intercepted and Destroyed Ballistic Missile Fired by Houthi Rebels of Yemen

  • State-run news channel of Saudi Arabia, Al-Ekhbariya, has said that Saudi air defence has intercepted a ballistic missile northeast of its capital Riyadh and destroyed it. The news agency has also said that the missile was launched from Yemen. Houthi Al-Masirah television has said Houthi rebels of Yemen have claimed firing of the ballistic missile, which was on its course of hitting the airport. Yemen is currently undergoing a civil war between Shia Houthi rebels (backed by Iran) and President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi’s government (backed by Saudi Arabia). United Nations-backed talks have failed to broker peace between the warring sides in Yemen.
