Saudi Arabia Admits Journalist Jamal Khashoggi Died inside its Istanbul Consulate

  • On Saturday, Saudi Arabia admitted that journalist Jamal Khashoggi died inside its Istanbul consulate after a fight. Saudi Arabia has since then reportedly fired two senior officials over Khashoggi’s death. While the US President Donald Trump called it a credible account on the issue, various US lawmakers found it hard to believe. Saudi Arabia’s admission of Khashoggi death inside the consulate comes after 2-weeks of denial. Reports say King Salman dismissed 2 senior officials - a royal court advisor Saud al-Qahtani and Deputy Intelligence Chief Ahmed Asiri. Both the officials are believed to be close to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Till now “18 Saudi nationals have been arrested”. Saudi Arabia hasn’t given any evidence supporting its account of circumstances that led to the death of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi.
