    Pakistan is gearing up for more protests as the funeral of Mumtaz Qadri, the police bodyguard, who shot Pakistan Punjab governor Salman Taseer, will be held in Rawalpindi. As per media reports, heavy security has been deployed in Rawalpindi as thousands of people are expected to gather to mourn Qadri.

    Mumtaz Qadri, the former police bodyguard who had shot dead Salman Taseer, Governor of Punjab in Pakistan, has been hanged. According to media reports, Qadri had killed the governor in 2011 over his opposition to blasphemy laws. At that time, some Islamist groups had hailed him as a hero. Thousands of hard-line activists had also protested to show their support for Qadri. On heading the news of Qadri’s execution, people once again took to the streets.
