Ryanair Airline Cancels 40-60 Flights a Day for Next 6 Weeks to Accommodate Pending Staff Leave

  • Dublin-listed budget airline Ryanair (largest airline by passenger numbers in Europe) has announced cancelation of 40 to 60 flights per day for the coming 6 weeks so that they can clear off yearly leave backlog of their staffs in September-October after a record schedule during peak summer months of July-August. Reports say the total number of affected journeys can reach 285,000 approximately if 40 flights (with 90 per cent load factor) are cancelled for next 6 weeks. Ryanair spokesperson said that by cancelling less than 2 per cent of their flying programs they can improve their on-time performance from their current 80 per cent to annualized target of 90 per cent.
