Russia's 'military assertiveness' poses threat, warns US admiral
March 13 , 2015
Russia’s recent “military assertiveness” could jeopardize the ability of the US and Canadian armed forces to defend North America, a senior US admiral has warned.
Admiral William Gortney, the chief of the North American aerospace defense command, said that Russia was continuing to make progress on deploying long-range “conventionally armed” cruise missiles.
These can be launched from submarines, bomber planes and warships, and give Russia a “deterrent” option, he told a US Senate Committee.
