Russia's annexation of Crimea a 'democratic act': PM Sergei Aksyonov

  • Calling the annexation of Crimea by Russia a ‘democratic act’, Crimea’s Prime Minister Sergei Aksyonov has said that the peninsula has returned to its 'homeland' – Russia. He told the media that Crimea will never again be a part of Ukraine. Russia had taken over Crimea on March 18, 2104, in a referendum. The move was criticized by the international community and the referendum was boycotted by people loyal to Ukraine. However, Aksyonov has said that Russia has not done anything wrong.
