Russian planes carrying 'humanitarian aid' land in Syria
September 13 , 2015
Two cargo planes from Russia carrying humanitarian aid have arrived in Syria, according to official media reports from the conflict-hit country.
The US and Nato have recently expressed concern over a Russian “military build-up” in Syria.
The two planes landed on an air base near Latakia, which is a government stronghold.
Russia has been one of the most important allies of Syrian president Bashar al-Assad during the civil war, which has been raging for four years.
Russia’s defense ministry said the aircraft carried materials to help set up camps for refugees.
