The Mi-28 helicopters have been grounded by Russia’s defense ministry after an accident during an air show left one pilot dead.
The attack helicopter crashed while performing stunts during a display by the Berkut squadron in Ryazan, some 105 miles from Moscow.
Russia’s military says a hydraulics failure led to the crash. The pilot who died has been identified as Lt Col Igor Butenko. Another pilot managed to eject to safety.
