Russian convoy's entry into Ukraine is 'direct invasion': Kiev
August 23 , 2014
Kiev has described the crossing over of a Russian aid convoy into east Ukraine as a “direct invasion” — but ruled out a military response against it.
The convoy’s first trucks reached the rebel-controlled city of Luhansk.
Earlier, the foreign ministry of Russia said that the convoy could not wait any longer at the border, where it was stranded for over a week. The entire convoy consisting of around 260 trucks is now on Ukrainian territory.
A senior United States official has slammed what he called Russia’s “flagrant violation of Ukrainian sovereignty”.
