Russia to drop charges against Greenpeace activists
December 25 , 2013
Pussy Riot members left Russian prison under the country's new amnesty measure. Reports suggest that Russia's charges against at least a number of Greenpeace activists may be dropped.
According to RT, at least three out of the Arctic Sunrise ship's 30 crew members have had charges dropped and the same will most likely happen for the rest by the end of the week.
"Today it will be one or two activists, the rest will follow tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow," a lawyer for the protestors said. The activists were charged with piracy but the charges with reduced to hooliganism.
A Greenpeace rep said there's a good chance that "they will be home in time for the New Year."
