Russia gears up for its historic army exercise Zapad 2017

Russia is preparing for its extensive display of power through Belarusian-Russian strategic army exercise Zapad 2017. Over the last decade, Russian military has undergone rapid modernization and this exercise will offer a platform to the armies of the two nations to train together. It could be Russia's biggest military exercise since the Cold War. According to the officials, this display of power would involve approximately 100,000 people in Belarus & Russia. Zapad (West) 2017, will be held from 14th -20th September in Belarus, Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast & other North-Western areas. However , the first of Russian troop will arrive in mid-August in Belarus. As per a Nato official, Nato will closely monitor Zapad 2017 but are not planning on holding any huge exercise during Zapad 2017.
