Russia Claims to have Killed IS Leader but Iraq and West Remain Skeptical
June 17 , 2017
Russia has claimed that its armed forces may have killed Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the chief leader of IS. It says that this probably happened during an air strike in Syria in May. However, the US has said that it cannot support such a claim. As such officers in Iraq, as well as the West, remain quite doubtful regarding the claim. There are some good reasons for such skepticism as well. On many occasions this mysterious leader has been reported to be wounded or killed but nothing has been confirmed so far.
