Romney beats Obama by $35 million in June fundraising

  • Mitt Romney increased his presidential campaign fundraising lead over President Barack Obama in June.

Romney and the Republicans raised $106 million, $35 million more than Obama and his Democratic party who raised $71 million.

The total figures exclude money raised by independent groups that support the candidates.

Obama’s campaign has warned supporters he is in danger of becoming the first sitting president in history to be outspent by his opponent.

Romney has an estimated $160 million to spend on the campaign.
