Romania Witnesses Biggest Anti-corruption Protest
February 2 , 2017
A decree was passed on Tuesday to free dozens of officials who were prisoned for corruption. It resulted into one of the largest ever anti-government protests in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
Late on Wednesday, a crowd of more than 150000 gathered outside the government offices, while other cities and towns witnessed rallies.
As per reports, firecrackers and smoke bombs were thrown by the protesters at police, and in response to this the police fired tear gas.
One of the protesters said they came to protect their country from the criminals who were disloyal to Romania and tried to dismiss its rule of law.
