Roma baby burial row: Inquiry launched by French official
January 5 , 2015
A Roma baby whose burial was reportedly refused by the mayor of France’s Champlan town will now be buried in a cemetery in Wissous, south of capital Paris, according to media reports.
An inquiry has been launched into the incident by Jacques Toubon, the official in charge of defending rights issues in France.
Though the mayor of Champlan, Christian Leclerc, has denied refusing the burial, the case has provoked a huge controversy in France, with the prime minister saying it was an "insult” to the country.
