May 27 , 2013
A rocket was reportedly fired from southern Lebanon into Israel, according to security sources on Sunday.
The launch is believed to have taken place in the Lebanese town of Marjayoun, located some 6 miles away from the Israeli border, the National News Agency reported.
The Israeli military has launched an investigation after residents of the northern Israeli town of Metula said they had heard an explosion.
However, no evidence of a launch or any damage was found.
A second Israeli military source believes it was likely to be a mortar.
It is not yet known who was responsible. The military arm of the Shia Islamist movement, Hezbollah, along with numerous Palestinian militant groups are known to operate in southern Lebanon.
