Rio Paralympics 2016 in a limbo due to Fund Crunch

  • Rio Paralympics 2016 in a limbo due to Fund Crunch

International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has said that they will go ahead with the scheduled 2016 Paralympics in Rio (to begin on September 7) despite budget cuts, unparalleled challenges, and unexpected facility closures. Reports say lack of sponsors along with woeful ticket sales led to major shortfall in cash for the September 7-18 event. It has been learnt that cost cut (expected cut in workforce) along with closing down of many media centers will be done to make the event viable. IPC is expecting to receive the pending travel grants of July soon.
