Recent video shows US soldier held captive is alive

  • A new video received by the US military shows Srg. Bowe Bergdahl, who is the only solder being held captive by the Taliban since 2009.

The US obtained the video in a thumb drive last week and it's his first glimpse in three years. NBC News reports that he looks "shaky" and frail" and refers to Nelson Mandela's death, which proves that the recorded video is recent.

It appears that Bergdahl has become weaker since 2011. "Sgt. Bower Bergdahl has been gone for too long, and we continue to call for and work toward his safe immediate release," a Pentagon spokesperson said. He mentioned that the US is attempting to resolve this issue every day.
