Rallies held in Sanaa after Yemen's leaders resign
January 24 , 2015
Pro- and anti-rebel rallies were held in the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Friday after the resignation of the country’s top leadership, which has created a power vacuum.
President Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi declared he was quitting office because of the “total deadlock” in his administration’s stand-off with the Shia Houthi rebels, who even attacked his presidential home.
The parliament has not yet accepted Hadi’s resignation.
Meanwhile, aid agency Oxfam has warned that Yemen was on "the brink of humanitarian disaster with millions of lives at risk"
