Reaffirming close ties with Serbia, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has pledged never to recognize the independence of Kosovo, according to media reports.
Serbia does not accept an independent Kosovo ever since the province broke away following a war in the 1990s.
On his part, Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolić said he would not participate in the EU sanctions imposed on Russia. He said Serbia “will not endanger its morality” by opposition to Russia.
Putin, who was in the Serbian capital Belgrade, also attended a military parade.
