Putin might seek a fourth term

  • President of Russia, Vladimir Putin said he might run for president again when his third term is over in 2018.

He made this comment at a recent forum while having a conversation with former French prime minister, Francois Fillon. Putin asked him if he would run for president in his country but Fillon said he wouldn't answer unless Putin answers whether or not he would do the same in Russia.

Since Putin said he doesn't exclude the possibility, the AP noted that if he really ends up serving four terms, he would become the country's longest-serving leader since Josef Stalin.

Putin also became prime minister in 2008 after serving two consecutive terms beginning in 2000.
