Prosecutors seek execution for Ariel Castro

  • Prosecutors plan to charge the Ohio man suspected of imprisoning three women for nearly a decade with charges of aggravated murder.

As a result, Ariel Castro, 52, could face the death penalty.

The charges are in relation to alleged miscarriages carried out on one of the victims.

Castro, 52, was charged in court on Thursday for the kidnap and rape of Amanda Berry, 27, Gina DeJesus, 23 and Michelle Knight, 32.

He was charged with four counts of kidnapping, which also includes Berry’s daughter, Jocelyn, who was conceived and born six years ago.

Castro also faces three counts of rape, one against each woman.

Berry managed to escape on Monday with the help of a neighbor.

Bail was set at $8 million so Castro will remain in custody.

Berry disappeared in 2003 aged 16. DeJesus went missing aged 14 in 2004 and Knight disappeared in 2002, when she was 20.
