September 2 , 2017
White House budget director Mick Mulvaney has formally written to the US Congress seeking $7.85 billion Disaster Relief Fund (of Federal Emergency Management Agency) for launching initial recovery effort from the disaster caused by Hurricane Harvey. Trump administration wants the US Congress to allow the disaster relief fund on its own. White House homeland security adviser Tom Bossert told media that this is the first request by the White House and further aid funding requests would be made in stages, as and when the extent of storm impact information is gathered. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has reportedly said that $125 billion is required by his state for recovery.
