Pope expresses desire to expand women's role in church
January 26 , 2014
While addressing the Italian women's organization on Saturday, Pope Francis spoke about his desire to expand women's role in the Roman Catholic Church.
He said women's role in society is "indispensable" and he'd be pleased to see them sharing responsibilities and taking on a more incisive role in the church.
The pontiff praised the gift of tenderness that females have been gifted with and said "the human vocation would not be realized" without their contributions.
The organization he was speaking to is a non-profit association for women, which is based on Christian values.
