Pope apologizes for sexual abuse scandals
April 12 , 2014
Pope Francis apologized over several of the sexual abuse scandals that have been linked to the Catholic Church.
"I feel compelled to take personal responsibility for all the evil that some priests" committed, he said. "You don't play around with the lives of children."
However, many abuse advocates weren't satisfied with the declaration. "#Pope Francis needs to address the cover up and facilitation of abuse by priests not the acts of abuse themselves," tweeted the founder of a victim support group. "That is the real crime."
Moreover, the SNAP Network dismissed the pontiff's remarks as being "dreadfully duplicitous."
