'Police, political failures behind child sexual abuse cases in Rotherham'
August 27 , 2014
The failure of local political leaders and police to act led to the sexual abuse of around 1,400 children in the British town of Rotherham, a damning new report has said.
The abuse, carried out mostly by men of Pakistani origin, went on for over 15 years in the town in South Yorkshire and included sex trafficking and gang rape.
The first report on the issue of sexual exploitation of girls in Rotherham was published way back in 2002, but the police and council officials allegedly paid little heed to it.
