Pilot crashed Mozambican plane on purpose
December 23 , 2013
Preliminary investigations suggest that the pilot of a Mozambican Airlines plane "made a deliberate series of maneuvers" while his co-pilot was in the bathroom and lowered the plane from 38,000 feet to 592 feet.
According to the chief of the Civil Aviation Institute, pilot Santos Fernandes clearly intended on crashing the aircraft.
"During these actions you can hear low and high-intensity alarm signals and repeated beating against the door with demands to come into the cockpit," the chief said. He mentioned that Fernandes' reasons for doing so are not clear.
All 33 passengers onboard died as a result of the crash last month.
