Philippines Deploys Commandoes, Helicopters to Retake City from Islamists

According to reports, the Philippines government has mobilized attack helicopters and special forces to drive Islamic State-linked rebels out of Marawi City, on Mindanao Islands.
According to reports, six soldiers have died in street combat amid heavy resistance.
Reports also inform about helicopters circling the city, spraying Maute positions with machine gun fire. Marawi, a predominantly Muslim city with a population of of 200,000, witnessed fighters torching and seizing a school, a jail and a cathedral, and taking more than a dozen people hostage.
