  • Three people have been confirmed dead after a ship with 118 people on board sank near an Indonesian island on Saturday.

Thirty-nine passengers were rescued, but there are fears that the death toll may rise.

According to local media reports, the ship had left from Kolaka in the Sulawesi province and was heading to an area in South Sulawesi.

The fibreglass boat was rocked by high waves, causing it to sink.
